Summer Institute 2008:
Innovation in Knowledge Translation Research and Knowledge Translation - Call
For Applications
We are pleased to announce the 7th annual Summer Institute to be hosted by
the Clinical Epidemiology Program of the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute
(OHRI), an affiliate of The Ottawa Hospital and University of Ottawa. The
theme is “Innovation in Knowledge Translation Research and Knowledge
Translation.” Dr Jeremy Grimshaw, Canada Research Chair in Health Knowledge
Transfer and Uptake, is the Chair of this year's planning committee. The
Summer Institute is one of many strategic capacity-building activities planned
by CIHR's Institutes of Health Services and Policy Research (IHSPR) and
Population and Public Health (IPPH).
The 2008 Summer Institute will provide a learning environment where students
will gain a better understanding of the concepts and theories that underlie
effective Knowledge Translation Research and Knowledge Translation. We
invite applications from students in graduate training and post-doctoral
fellows with an interest in knowledge translation research and knowledge
translation in health services and policy or population and public health
research communities. A limited number (30) of spaces are available for this
event that will bring together researchers, students, practitioners and
decision-makers from across Canada and from a variety of disciplines, along
with guest presenters from across Canada and from the USA and the UK.
The major partners of the 2008 Summer Institute include the CIHR Knowledge
Synthesis and Exchange Branch, the Canadian Institute for Health Information's
Canadian Population Health Initiative, the Public Health Agency of Canada, and
the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation. The following CIHR Institutes
will provide funding for successful applications that are relevant to their
research priorities: Institute of Aging and Institute of Gender and
Health. Additional partners/collaborators are expected to join this
funding initiative.
