Funding Opportunity: Grand Challenges Explorations Round 2 (Call for Proposals)

 

The Explorations initiative will focus on rapidly evaluating a large number of innovative ideas that could lead to new vaccines, diagnostics, drugs, and other technologies targeting diseases that claim millions of lives every year or new approaches to filling critical gaps in knowledge.

 

Grant proposals are being accepted online on the following topics:

 

     -- Create new vaccines for diarrhea, HIV, malaria, pneumonia, and tuberculosis

     -- Create new tools to accelerate the eradication of malaria

     -- Create new ways to protect against infectious diseases

     -- Create drugs or delivery systems that limit the emergence of resistance

     -- Create new ways to prevent or cure HIV infection

     -- Explore the basis for latency in tuberculosis

 

Funder: Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

 

Value: Initial grants will be US$100,000 each, and projects showing promise will have the opportunity to receive additional funding of US$1 million or more
