Across Canada, many health
organizations are still at the very early stages of selecting, measuring and
reporting on the quality of their care, especially in ways that are credible
and transparent to the public. During this session, Maura Davies and Gary Teare
will discuss how important it is for health system leaders and professionals to
demonstrate timely, meaningful ways to “account” for the quality
and safety of their care. They will also discuss the challenges of navigating
the fundamental culture shift that must occur if organizations and health
providers are to become fully transparent and accountable.

Researcher
on Call is an interactive series, developed by the Canadian Health
Services Research Foundation in partnership with the Quality Healthcare
Network, which brings researchers and decision makers together on a common
topic. Each call is designed to clarify the findings in the selected
research or synthesis discussed; identify and illustrate actions that can be taken
on the findings; and explore the issues and challenges in fully implementing
the findings in various settings. The dialogue will help participants consider
the implications of the research results for improving their practice.
