Canadian Water Network - Call for Expressions of Interest 2004 The Canadian Water Network (CWN) is calling for Expressions of Interest to promote the Mission, Strategic Goals and the Key Challenges identified in the three CWN Water Innovation Programs: Protecting Watershed and Ecosystems, Protecting Public Health, Ensuring Sustainable Water Infrastructure. The CWN is contributing to a future with an abundant, sustainable supply of clean water, supporting healthy, prosperous communities throughout Canada, achieved through the creation and application of knowledge. The CWN is actively building a strong multidisciplinary national network through strong partnerships with the public and private sectors. The CWN supports teams of excellent researchers and partners who address the Strategic Goals and Key Challenges identified by the Network. Priority will be given to proposals that promote the Mission of the Network, emphasize networking and partnerships, build on existing expertise and excellence and show a high potential to achieve outcomes and/or lead to innovation that will have an impact on economic prosperity and quality of life of Canadians. The Canadian Water Network is calling for three types of Expressions of Interest: 1. CWN Strategic Research Program. This program supports comprehensive research projects that address the Key Challenges identified by the Network and contain elements of all five NCE/CWN criteria. Proposals require collaborative multidisciplinary and partnered teams conducting research to achieve or make significant progress on identified outcomes over a two year period. 2. CWN Strategic Opportunities. This program addresses more focused initiatives that present a particular and powerful opportunity to achieve specific Strategic Goals, address one or more of the NCE/CWN Criteria (in addition to Excellence and Effective Management) and promote the Mission of the Network. 3. CWN Strategic Partnerships. This program will identify and link potential key partners who are interested in contributing to the Key Challenges or Strategic Goals of the Network.
