 RE:        University Authors Collection

                                                    ________________________________________________________________

The Library’s University Authors Collection, located in Special Collections, Main Library, is the repository for monographic publishing by University of Saskatchewan faculty and staff.  The Library actively collects published material by U. of S. authors. The University Authors Collection will be the featured exhibition in the Main Library Link from January 9th to March 1st, 2006.  A public reception in connection with the exhibition will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. in room 154 Main Library.   The criteria for inclusion into the University Author Collection are as follows:

·         a book or a chapter in a book (including edited/published conference proceedings), a translation of the same, or a subsequent edition (not a reprint) of the same in any format;

·         authored, composed, edited, compiled or translated by a U. of. S. faculty or staff member;

·         published during the individual’s U. of S. employment or retirement.

Works that are part a U. of S. published lectureship series, such as the Sorokin Lecture Publications or the Whelen Visiting Lectureship Series are also included in the University Authors Collection.

This Library exhibition will be the fourth highlighting our University Authors Collection.  In order to enhance this exhibition, we would like to receive photographs and brief biographical information on our university authors.   Please send these items directly to Edna Warrington, Library Fund Raising and Development Officer by email [edna.warrington@usask.ca], by campus mail, or bring them to Library Administration, Main Library, 1st Floor. Please note that all submissions must be in by December 15th, 2005.

We would like to thank all university authors who have donated and who continue to donate their publications to the Library. In order to build and enhance our University Authors Collection holdings, university authors, editors, and translators who have not yet done so are invited to donate to the Library two copies of each of their publications.  One copy will be housed in the University Authors Collection within Special Collections; the second copy will be a circulating copy, which will be housed in the Main Library or the appropriate branch library.  Alternatively, please send order information so that the Library can purchase the publications.

For further information, to donate University Authors Collection publications, or to inform us of the availability of publications, please contact us directly by phone (Edna Jen Warrington, ext. 5944) or by email (Edna.Warrington@usask.ca).
