Canadian Academy of Engineering Fellowship (FCAE) Nominations Due October 31st CAE Website The Canadian Academy of Engineering comprises many of the country's most accomplished engineers, who have expressed their dedication to the application of science and engineering principles in the interests of the country and its enterprises. Fellows of the Academy are committed to ensuring that Canada's engineering expertise is applied to the benefit of all Canadians. Members of the Academy are nominated and elected by their peers to honorary Fellowships in view of their distinguished achievements and career-long service to the engineering profession. Canadian Mathematical Society Excellence in Teaching Award Nominations Due November 15th Call for Nominations This prize recognizes sustained and distinguished contributions in undergraduate teaching. Full-time university, college, two-year college, or CEGEP teachers in Canada with at least five years teaching experience at their current institution can be nominated. Value: The recipient is expected to give a talk at the CMS summer meeting; either a plenary lecture, a talk in the education session or short talk as part of a social function. The nature of the talk will be determined by the prize recipient, the Meeting Director and the Chair of the Education Committee. Funds are provided to assist with the travel expenses of the recipient in order that they may be present at the meeting to receive the Award. |

Bank of Canada Fellowship Award Nominations Due November 15th About the BOC Fellowship Provides financial support for academics recognized for their expertise and excellence in areas critical to the mandate of the Bank of Canada, and who are undertaking leading-edge research that contributes to the development of knowledge and research capabilities in these fields. Bank of Canada Governor's Award Nominations Due November 15th About the BOC Governor’s Award Aimed at academics at relatively early stages of their careers who have demonstrated the potential to continue to make exemplary research contributions in areas critical to the Bank of Canada's mandate. The four main areas of activity of the Bank of Canada are monetary policy, currency, financial-system sustainability, and funds management. Candidates must be working as an assistant or associate professor in an economics or business program at a Canadian university. Candidates must have obtained a PhD in the ten years prior to the application. Value: $25,000 per year for two years |

Volvo Environment Prize Nominations Due November 15th About the Prize The objective of the Volvo Environment Prize is to promote research and development across the environmental spectrum, by acknowledging people who have made outstanding innovations or scientific discoveries which in broad terms fall within the environmental field. The Volvo Environment Prize is awarded by an independent foundation, which was instituted in 1988. Laureates represent all fields of environmental and sustainability studies and initiatives. Value: The Prize consists of a diploma, a glass sculpture and a cash award of SEK 1.5 million (approximately EUR 140 000 or USD 190 000) |

Fulbright Program: Traditional Scholars / Visiting Research Chairs Applications Due November 15th About the Fulbright Program The Canada-US Fulbright program strengthens binational collaborative research and promotes thoughtful public debate on topics that reflect the broad range of contemporary issues relevant to Canada, the United States, and the relationship between the two countries. The Canada-U.S. Fulbright Program operates on the principle of reciprocal exchange and provides the opportunity for outstanding Canadian scholars to lecture and/or conduct research in the United States. Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada Awards Nominations Due November 19th Call for Nominations The AFMC offer four annual awards, including: Award for Outstanding Contribution to Faculty Development in Canada; Young Educators Award; John Ruedy Award for Innovation in Medical Education; and, May Cohen Gender Equity Award. Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering (CSChE) Awards Nominations Due December 1st Call for Nominations The CSChE Awards program recognizes outstanding contributions to further chemical engineering or influence others to learn about it. Awards include: the Bantrel Award in Design and Industrial Practice; the Process Safety Management Award; the R. S. Jane Memorial Award for exceptional achievement in the field of chemical engineering or industrial chemistry while residing in Canada; and the Syncrude Canada Innovation Award, Presented to an individual who has not reached the age of 40 for a distinguished contribution to the field of chemical engineering while working in Canada. Royal Society of Canada: Fellowship and Medals Nominations Due December 1st About the Royal Society of Canada The Royal Society of Canada (RSC) is the senior national body of distinguished Canadian scholars, artists and scientists. It is Canada’s national academy. The primary objective of the RSC is to promote learning and research in the arts and sciences. The RSC consists of nearly 2000 Fellows, men and women who are selected by their peers for outstanding contributions to the natural and social sciences, in the arts and in the humanities. As Canada’s national academy, the RSC exists to recognize academic excellence, to advise governments and organizations, and to promote Canadian culture. Candidates must be nominated for Fellowship or Medals by current Fellows of the RSC. Individuals do not need to be Fellows to qualify for medal nominations. Molson Prize Nominations Due December 1st About the Molson Prize The prizes are intended to encourage continuing contributions to the cultural and intellectual heritage of Canada. The prizes are funded by an endowment from the Molson Foundation, and they are administered by the Canada Council for the Arts in cooperation with the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). SSHRC Gold Medal Nominations Due February 1, 2011 About the SSHRC Gold Medal The SSHRC Gold Medal for Achievement in Research is SSHRC’s highest research honour. It is awarded to an individual whose leadership, dedication, and originality of thought have significantly advanced understanding in his or her field of research, enriched Canadian society, and contributed to the country's cultural and intellectual life. Value: The winner receives the Gold Medal and $100,000. The funds can only be used for research, training or other academic activities. |
