Welcome to the home page for the Cardiovascular Risk Factor Reduction Unit! Take a look at What's New in our web. The Cardiovascular Risk Factor Reduction Unit (CRFRU) at the Royal University Hospital, and University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) provides a multi-disciplinary approach to cardiovascular disease (CVD) and cardiovascular risk factors. The CRFRU, consisting of both a clinical and a research arm, funtions to conduct research in cardiovascular disease, and to reduce cardiovascular disease in individuals through the modification and reducion of risk factors, such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, smoking, obesity, diabetes, and physical inactivity. The mandate of the CRFRU is to reduce cardiovascular disease through Primary and Secondary prevention stratagies that modify cardiovascular disease risk factors using pharmacological, and non-pharmacological therapy.
