I. APPLIED STUDY & PERFORMANCE
Designed to prepare the student for a performing career. In addition to advanced
performance studies, students are offered courses in theory, music history & literature,
pedagogy, performance practice, and ensembles.
II. THEORY & COMPOSITION This program is under review. Please note that no new students will be accepted into this program in 2012-13. Students already accepted as majors in this program will be allowed to complete the program. Please consult with the Department of Music and/or the Undergraduate Student Office for more information.
Designed to provide training for students in a career as a composer and/or music
theorist.
Students are offered advanced courses in musical form
and structure, history, analysis, and compositional techniques to
enhance the creative spirit of the composer. Our multi-station electroacoustic
computer lab enables students to explore composition using many of
the computer-driven compositional tools available.
Designed to prepare the student for graduate work in music theory.
Theory curriculum offers study in traditional theory and analysis
of tonal and post-tonal music, as well as exposure to recent research
in the field including music cognition, metaphor theory, film music,
gender studies, and philosophy of theory.
III. MUSICOLOGY (History

Designed to give a thorough preparation in musicology through the
study of advanced
history & theory in seminar courses, and to develop skills in research, analysis,
and methodology.
IV: INDIVIDUALIZED
Designed to give the student more freedom when choosing music electives. This
stream is geared to students who are interested in completing a Bachelor
Music degree, but who do not want to commit to one area of study.
