ABORIGINAL GOVERNMENT:
GIVING EFFECT TO CONSTITUTIONAL COMMITMENTS
Friday, November 7 and Saturday, November 8, 2008
College of Law, University of Saskatchewan
Aboriginal government is a constitutional commitment and a political promise. Yet, its implementation is far from being realized. This conference will examine, and seek answers to, the challenges and barriers presented in achieving Aboriginal government – the lack of precise constitutional procedures, fears over political pluralism, concerns over interests of the Crown, debate over its form and, of course, lack of political acceptance and political will.
