The Borden Primary Health Center was established in 2000 and offers services 5 days a week. Borden also acts as a satellite site to the West Winds Primary Health Centre.
Primary Health achieves success by providing services that address the main problem and concerns within the community. The services are broad and are focused in the areas of: promotion, prevention, cure, rehabilitation, and palliation. This model offers high quality services close to the client's home, at the most appropriate time, and is provided by an effective combination of health providers.
Members of the Primary Health Teams include:
- a Nurse Practitioner
- a Pharmacist
- a Registered Nurse
- a Laboratory Technician
- a Public Health Nurse
- a Home Care Nurse
- a Client-care Coordinator
- a Mental Health Counsellor
- a Nutritionist and Physiotherapist are also available as required.
Students may be involved in: assessment, treatment plans, and education sessions with individual clients; as well as community development initiatives and other population based activities. There are excellent opportunities to work closely with a variety of professionals. |
