The College of Nursing is committed to becoming a college of preference in all areas and at all levels of operation and we believe it is important to be innovative to do so. Our College aims to foster innovative leaders, partnerships and networks that will support a new generation of student learners. The decisions we make now will help position the College as a world leader in nursing education, interprofessional health care, research, practice, innovation, capacity building and policy development.
We are committed to a "learn where you live" philosophy and as such, we are using innovative technology to deliver undergraduate education in northern Saskatchewan. By using Remote Presence (RP) technology, nursing students in Ile-a-la-Crosse and La Ronge have the opportunity to obtain a first-class nursing education.
The constantly changing, complex environment surrounding health care requires heath care providers to work in interprofessional teams. Future health professionals must be educated to have the beginning knowledge and confidence to work in these teams upon graduation. The College of Nursing’s commitment to interprofessional education has been expressed since the beginning of the new Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. A variety of innovative experiences throughout the BSN program will expose and immerse students in the essential skills required for their development as effective members of interprofessional teams.
The College of Nursing has created a unique working group to support the achievement of strategic initiatives put forth in the College of Nursing Third Integrated Plan. The Strategic Team leverages the expertise and knowledge of employees in the college and provides recommendations to the Leadership Team in areas of operations and processes specific to the goals and priorities of the integrated plan.
The E-Learning Centre at the College of Nursing works to advance and sustain a high quality, technology rich, distributed learning environment in support of academic, administrative and research functions in the College. In collaboration with faculty, the E-Learning Centre strives to take students beyond the classroom and engage learners through the targeted application of innovative technology solutions for distributed learning.
