Overview: What is N.A.P.N.?

The Native Access Program to Nursing (N.A.P.N.) is a support and retention service for Aboriginal Nursing students enrolled in the Nursing Education Program of Saskatchewan (N.E.P.S.). NAPN provides support at the College of Nursing, on the UofS campus, as well as at the Nursing Division at SIAST Kelsey and SIAST Wascana. Support is also available for Aboriginal students enrolled in the Post-Registration Program and the Master's Program at the College of Nursing.

N.A.P.N. offers:

  • Academic and personal advisement for aboriginal nursing students.
  • Access to elders, cultural events, and culturally appropriate counseling.
  • Advocacy with childcare, housing, and funding concerns.
  • Tutoring, mentorship, and role-models.
  • Gatherings and luncheons.
  • Fall orientation activities for new students
  • Student lounge with computer and internet access, Rm 153 at the Wascana Campus site, Rm 303.1 Kelsey Campus site, and Room 338 Ellis Hall at the U of S site.
  • Research resources.
