Mobile Computing in Nursing

Access to information on demand at point-of-care is becoming a key component of health care practice.  Students will be required to have a mobile device for use in the undergraduate program.  We recommend Apple or Android devices; however, there are several other devices that will also work for the required software packages that students will use most often.  Nursing Central provides detailed information on device requirements and platform compatibility on their website.

Nursing students should check back in August for updated information on purchasing NursingCentral for 2013-14."

Note: Students may find that a tablet device (such as Apple iPad) is beneficial for mobility and communication while in the program. However, it should be noted that a tablet is too large for effective bedside clinical point of care and does not meet the mobile device requirement.  Also, tablets often lack the full productivity applications and compatibility requirements of a laptop/desktop and therefore should not be considered adequate to meet the computer access requirement.
