This international student exchange is a 6-week clinical practicum for undergraduate senior year nursing students from the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Flinders University in Adelaide, South Australia, and the College of Nursing, University of Saskatchewan, SK, Canada. Up to six students may be offered this experience yearly. The practicum will be offered to U of S students in Term II, January/February, which is summer in Australia; Flinders Uni students come to Canada in June/July, our summer to facilitate accommodations in both countries.
Students in NEPS 421.6 will have the opportunity to: Observe and participate in Primary Health Care/ Community health care initiatives in Australia, interact with students in a baccalaureate nursing program in Australia identifying similarities and differences between that program and their own program, as well as contextual relevance; Be immersed in the culture of urban, rural and remote health practice locations of Flinders University located in Adelaide Australia, and their regional campus of Riverland located in Renmark, and rural placements in the Eyre Peninsula with an Aboriginal focus if possible.
