Second Degree Entry Option

The last intake for the NEPS Second Degree Entry Option (SDEO) has been accepted and we are no longer accepting applications.The College of Nursing now offers a new Post-Degree BSN that will begin in May 2011 as part of the provincial government new two-provider model for nursing education.

The NEPS Second Degree Entry Option provides an opportunity for full-time intensive study (six consecutive terms) with program completion in less than two calendar years. There are 60 seats in this option. It will be located on campus at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. Clinical experiences may be assigned anywhere in the province.

Admission Requirements

  • A completed baccalaureate degree of at least 90 credit units from a post-secondary institution recognized by the University of Saskatchewan. OR Significant progress towards a degree in another field from a post-secondary institution recognized by the University of Saskatchewan. Significant progress is defined as completion of at least 90 credit units with a minimum of 36 credit units at the senior level.
  • Minimum overall average of 70% in the most recent 60 credit units.

The following courses are prerequisite to the option. Students may be admitted with a maximum of two prerequisite deficiencies which must be addressed as noted below.

Applicants whose first language is not English must present evidence of proficiency in English.

Applications

Applicants should be in good health. Once accepted into the option, students are required to obtain CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) Heartsaver "C" AED and a Standard First Aid Certificate. Results of a criminal record check must be provided no later than the end of the first term.

Application forms will be available on-line or in hard copy at either the Office of the Registrar (SIAST) or the College of Nursing General Office. Applications are made to Registration Services, SIAST.
