Welcome to the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition’s website. Pharmacy and Nutrition are dynamic, challenging disciplines, committed to the promotion of health and the treatment of disease. Our programs provide students with the essential knowledge and skills to be leaders, discoverers and contributors in their professions. The joining of our two health science disciplines – Pharmacy and Nutrition – is unique in Canada, and provides excellent opportunities for collaboration in teaching, research and outreach.
Our undergraduate programs in Pharmacy and in Nutrition focus on experiential learning and providing the highest quality student experience. Career opportunities in both fields are excellent. From Year 1, students experience the professions of Pharmacy and Dietetics. Pharmacy students are greatly benefiting from learning opportunities through our state-of-the-art patient-focused professional skills teaching facility and the Structured Practice Experiences Program required for licensure as a Pharmacist. The innovative structure of our Nutrition degree provides students with all of the practice components required for professional registration as a Dietitian, a significant asset of our program here at the U of S. A new Academic Health Sciences building is now under construction on the campus. This facility will be the future home of the College and will be the focal point for an innovative array of interprofessional curricular, clinical education and continuing professional education activities.
Our Master’s and Ph.D. programs provide students with challenging and rewarding research projects, leading to exciting opportunities in the worlds of academia, industry and research. The College also coordinates postgraduate residencies in Hospital Pharmacy and in Community Nutrition.
Vibrant research programs are in operation. Our faculty, reflecting ongoing change and diversity within pharmaceutical and nutritional sciences fields and practice-based areas, pursue a wide range of research interests, and addition we have research teams working on specialized areas of expertise. In addition to the strengths of the research programs in our College, the U of S is home to all of the health sciences and related areas, a research park that is one of the best in North America and a range of affiliated health care facilities. This dynamic combination of programs, professionals and specialized researchers provides an outstanding environment for collaborative research, and excellent opportunities for advanced study.
We are also pleased to provide a home base for professional services. These include the Saskatchewan Drug Information Service, the Nutrition Resource and Volunteer Centre, the Continuing Professional Development for Pharmacists unit and the Pharmacy EduLab Program.
We have a distinguished faculty, and a supportive staff, and over 350 dedicated Pharmacy and Dietetics professionals (clinical instructors) in the field serve, who are committed to providing the best education possible to students. This philosophy is complemented by a most energetic, enthusiastic and caring student organization, which plans an amazing range of professional, athletic and social events for students. Outreach and engagement with the community is a priority for faculty, staff and students, and we work to accomplish this through a broad range of activities.
We value greatly our alumni, our industry partners and other friends of the College who support us. We look forward to homecomings, reunions and other collaborative events.
We hope that you enjoy traveling through our website. We encourage you to visit the College or e-mail us anytime with questions and feedback. Thank you and best regards.
