College of Graduate Studies and Research Dean’s Scholarships
The Dean’s Scholarships ($20,000 Ph.D. and $18,000 M.Sc.) have been established to attract high calibre students (admission average 85% or greater) to the University. There is a monthly competition held monthly from January-April; colleges/departments submit nominations. First deadline is usually mid-December. University Graduate Scholarships (UGS)
Nominations normally in February/March with decision in March/April
Master’s scholarships are $15,000 and Ph.D. $18,000.
Eligibility
Criteria
A Graduate Studies Subcommittee reviews the nominations. For students not yet admitted, must have transcript, TOEFL score and 2 confidential letters of recommendation). The minimum average required to receive a UGS is 80%. CGSR provides a grade conversion program for most Canadian/US universities and advises us on conversions for other countries.
Renewal
The Graduate Chair reviews the records of students eligible for renewal and recommends renewal as long as students are maintaining a 75% average and making satisfactory progress.
Academic Service
Recipients are required to provide 90 hours of academic service during the Fall/Winter terms.
Graduate Teaching Fellowship (GTF)
Students are considered in June with nomination sent to CGSR by June 3
The College receives one GTF each year for students who meet the academic requirements (normally an 80% average in the last two years of study). The award is valued at $11,000 for the Fall and Winter terms (September to April). Continuing students who meet eligibility requirements (i.e., average on courses done during the period in which the GTF is held must be at least 75%) will receive a Summer Scholarship for the following May to August period of $4,000. GTF holders are required to provide 320 hours of academic service during the Fall/ Winter terms. The award may be split between two recipients in which case 160 hours of academic service is required of each; this may be spread over the Fall/Winter terms or completed within one term. In early June, the College will consider all eligible graduate students and a Graduate Studies Subcommittee will make the selection, confirm that the student is willing to be nominated, and send the nomination(s) to CGSR. Graduate Teaching Assistant-ships (GTA)

The College has an ongoing .5 GTA, funded jointly by CGSR and the College, and a special GTA until 2006-07, funded through the Pharmacy and Nutrition Graduate Student Support Fund. It may be split between two recipients. Graduate Service Fellowships (GSF)
Applications accepted throughout the year by CGSR
The GSF program provides fellowships to graduate students to carry out projects to enhance services and the quality of graduate programs. In addition to the financial support, the graduate student will receive valuable work experience and learn skills. The program is administered by CGSR. GSF holders provide services to projects of high priority identified by CGSR, in consultation with the Graduate Students' Association, and other units on campus. The award is valued at $4,000 and the student provides an average of 12 hours/week of service over a 4 month period. Applications from academic units are sent to CGSR and graduate students can also submit ideas for service projects along with their qualifications directly to the CGSR. Graduate Travel Awards from College of Pharmacy & Nutrition and CGSR
Pharmacy and Nutrition Graduate Student Travel Awards have been made possible through the Graduate Student Support Fund. Students may apply once during their program for a maximum of $750 to present their work at a conference/professional meeting. Application forms with further details are located by file folder on the counter by the mail slots. Deadline for submission of application is at least 6 weeks prior to the travel date.
CGSR also provides Travel Awards of $300 for travel in Canada and $500 for international travel to students to attend conferences to present papers related to their research. The deadline for application to CGSR is one month prior to each academic term.

Ford Postgraduate Scholarship ($4,000)

-Must have degree in Pharmacy and be studying in the area of community pharmacy (or residency) and does not specify that it is non-repeating.
Ramsey Post Graduate Fellowship ($3,500)
Call for applications done in September.
-Offered to a full-time student who will advance the pharmacy profession, and is based on the following priority: 1) BSP graduate pursuing graduate studies in pharmacy; 2) graduate of Canadian pharmacy school pursuing graduate studies in pharmacy at the U of S; or 3) BSP graduate pursuing pharmacy residency program.
Alf Pepper Research Award ($400)
Call for applications done in September.
-Graduate of BSP from our College proceeding to or enrolled in graduate studies in pharmacy.
Pfizer Canada Inc. Centennial Research Award ($5,000)
Call for applications done in September.
-Graduate student of pharmacy at recognized Canadian college of pharmacy. If no applicants who are graduates of Canadian pharmacy programs, then other applicants will be considered.
Sanofi-aventis Scholarship in Pharmacy ($1,500 non-repeating)
Call for applications done in September.
-Student with an undergraduate degree in pharmacy, and be in or proceeding to a MSc or PhD in College of Pharmacy and Nutrition (intention that be studying in Pharmacy area). The candidate must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. If no applicants who are graduates of Canadian pharmacy programs, then other applicants will be considered.

Elizabeth Helen McLeod Scholarship ($3,500)
All eligible students automatically considered in September.
-Student has a degree in Nutrition or related program and is studying in human nutrition in the division of Nutrition and Dietetics and does not hold other major awards. No application required
Hope Hunt Scholarship
-Student with a degree in Nutrition/Dietetics, who is enrolled, or who can qualify for enrollment, as a full-time candidate in the College of Graduate Studies and Research, University of Saskatchewan.
Rhea Ritchie Scholarship in Human Nutrition
- Graduate students who are conducting research in human nutrition. The recipient must be a full-time, fully qualified graduate student and not currently hold another substantial award or scholarship. The holder of the scholarship is required to provide the equivalent of four hours per week of academic service to his/her department.
