Skin Transport Enhancer Library (STEL)

Permeation enhancement through the skin can also be approached from molecular point of view. Compared to the ‘old’ chemical enhancers, the new permeation enhancers have to demonstrate safety, temporary effect on the skin barrier and compatibility with protein and other drugs. Based on these requirements we have developed a library of acylated amino acids that are forming the basis of the dermal/transdermal or mucosal/transmucosal permeation enhancers for drugs especially macromolecules.
