Part 1 -- Immunization Competencies Education Program

Registration:  This education program is available through Advancing Practice and is a CCCEP-accredited online program. Developed by the Canadian Pediatric Society in association with the Public Health Agency of Canada and Health Canada, the Immunization Competencies Education Program (ICEP) provides participants with an in-depth review of the Immunization Competencies for Health Professionals. The national consensus on the education and training required by immunization providers,  is a 14 module online program which has been CCCEP accredited for 19 CEUs. Please download, complete, and send your registration form to the CPDP office.

*In keeping with SCP requirements, before attending Part 2, you will also be required to have a current, Standard First Aid/CPR with AED certificate. You will also be required to have been immunized for Hepatitis B at some point since 1995. Check with CPDP for opportunities to complete such a program independently through the University of Saskatchewan or the University of Regina.  Scroll down this page for more CPR details, please make sure to consult our "Important Facts for CPR & Hep B" document in pdf format.


Immunization and Injection Training Program 
Module 15 Essential Competencies for Injection of Other Substances -- Saskatchewan Specific Module

This module is specific to giving immunizations in Saskatchewan and must be completed prior to receiving authorization to administer injections. ONLY pharmacists who have taken an approved program from another provider, or in another province are required to fill out and submit the registration form below; such pharmacists need to register for the Saskatchewan specific module from CPDP at a cost of $200.00 + GST, in order to comply with the legislation.  Please download, complete, and send the registration form to the CPDP office.

Part 2 -- Theoretical and Practical in Administration of Injections:  A Course for Practicing Pharmacists

Upon successful completion of the on-line program, and possessing a First Aid/CPR with AED Certificate, pharmacists may register for the Part 2 CCCEP accredited five-hour live workshop, “Theoretical and Practical in Administration of Injections: A Course for Practicing Pharmacists.” In this interactive, hands-on workshop, pharmacists will learn the theory, and put into practice, the skills of administering intradermal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular injections. The practical session will be followed by both written and practical tests with a required passing score of 80%.  These tests will be an examination of the participant's knowledge gained from Part 1 and Part 2.
Note: To attend Part 2, you must complete Part 1 online in advance and have your current First Aid/CPR with AED, deadlines will be in place prior to attending the live component.

COST of the program: all pharmacists registering before September will be covered under the PAS grant funding for the cost of registration fees.  (Note: cost for First Aid/CPR with AED program is not included; any cost will need to be paid directly to the program provider.)  In addition, cost for the practice kit is not covered by the grant funding.  The Immunization Practice kit will be available for sale for $25 plus GST ($26.25).

 *Please NOTE: If you have taken training in another province, or through your employer, and would like to have a prior learning assessment done on the training you’ve taken, please contact CPDP  (306-966-6350) or SCP (306-584-2292) for more information.  Even if you have taken the training already, you will be required to complete the "Saskatchewan specific" module from CPDP at a cost of $200.00 + GST, in order to comply with the legislation.

AsthmaTrec & COPDTrec Workshops
The Asthma/COPD training are continuing professional education programs. They are designed to train health care professionals in the skills and knowledge necessary to become effective Asthma/COPD educators.

2-Day Management Workshops fees are $500.00/participant ($900.00 for full 4-day workshops).
Workshop size is limited to 12 participants. IT IS Mandatory to register 6 WEEKS prior to the workshop.

Now you can continue your education with RespTrec videos on the RespTrec website. The RespTrec website now adds continuing education video presentations throughout the year. You are required to subscribe to access the videos, after viewing the video a test is written and a passing result earns education credits.
