
"To serve society by providing expertise in pharmacy and human nutrition"
is a key goal of the College. Faculty and students are active in a wide range of service activities, which include delivery of continuing education for professionals, community service programs, and leadership in local, national and provincial health institutions and professional organizations.
The College is also home to the following professional programs, which make essential contributions to undergraduate and graduate programs in Pharmacy and Nutrition.
Continuing Professional Development for Pharmacists (211 THORV) - this unit coordinates and evaluates continuing education programs for pharmacists in Saskatchewan.
Nutrition Resource and Volunteer Centre (G27 THORV) - provides nutrition students with experiences and opportunities to develop and enhance a wide range of skills; supports dietitians, nutritionists and other health professionals and organizations in nutrition education efforts; and acts as a clearinghouse for, and develops, nutrition education resources.
Pharmacy EduLab Program (301 THORV) - "Turning New Ideas Into Practice" is the goal of this new program, funded by Merck Frosst and Canada Safeway, to improve the way in which pharmacists communicate with patients, and to enhance the quality and quantity of information that patients receive.
Saskatchewan Community Nutrition Residency Program (120 THORV) - the College, Saskatoon Health Region, Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region, Moose Jaw/Thunder Creek Health District and Saskatchewan Health jointly offer a program that provides advanced training in community nutrition.
Saskatchewan Drug Information Service (108 THORV) - provides consumer and professional drug information services: -
Consumer Drug Information is a service for the public, funded by Saskatchewan Health, to encourage responsible use of medications, and supplement information and advice provided by pharmacists and physicians.
Healthcare Professional Drug Information is a service for pharmacists, physicians and other health care professionals throughout Saskatchewan. It is funded by grants from the province, SPhA, CSHP, the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition, donations from practitioners, and the pharmaceutical industry.
Saskatchewan Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program (116 THORV) - College faculty coordinate this program that provides advanced clinical training opportunities in hospital pharmacy.
