Non-evolutionary ethicists think that ethics can, and should, be done without reference to evolutionary biology. But we have no obligations without also having the ability to fulfil them and evolution is the ultimate determinant of our abilities. Some non-evolutionary theories entail that we have obligations to be more impartial than evolution can make us. The theories thus entail falsehoods and are therefore themselves false..
