The New Institutional Plan

Join the discussion

The next iteration of our university’s integrated planning process has begun. This is an exciting time as we create a new plan to guide our university over the next several years. This plan, like our earlier plans, will help establish priorities, align our efforts and discipline our decision making. What we put into this plan is what we will be committed to accomplishing. It will reflect our identity as captured in the recently adopted Mission, Vision and Values statement, convey our broad aspirations, and will lay out a set of specific goals for which we will be collectively accountable.

Planning is about community building and communication. Campus-wide conversations will formulate goals as well as the strategies required to achieve them. It is incredible to me how a community that thrives on its diversity can come together so decisively on common objectives. That’s the true sign of a strong, collaborative, and committed community and I am enthusiastic to see this happening once again. It gives us a chance to speak to one another but also to our various stakeholder communities. They want to know who we are and where we are going. This exercise gives us a great opportunity to let them know.

I truly look forward to working with all of you during this process. Your input is critical to the long-term success of the University of Saskatchewan.

Michael Atkinson, interim provost and vice-president academic
