Students must maintain continuous registration in FREN 994. Courses, essays, thesis, and defence are in French.

- the preparation of a suitable thesis
- missing prerequisites can be made up by taking suitable undergraduate courses which will not be counted as part of the 18 credit units
- residency requirement of 2 years (1 year of course work and one year for thesis preparation)
