Linguistics

Graduate programs leading to the M.A. in Linguistics are available only to exceptional students on a special case basis. Individual programs are planned for each student in relation to the direction of the student's interests and in areas in which the faculty is competent to provide direction. Linguistics may be combined with one of the languages offered in the department, e.g., Linguistics and Ukrainian,
Linguistics and Russian, etc. Courses are offered on a seminar basis. Students who have an Honours degree in Linguistics or equivalent credits must complete GSR 960.0, GSR 961.0 if research involves human subjects, GSR 962.0 if research involves animal subjects, a minimum of 15 credit units and a thesis.
