Vaccinology & Immunotherapeutics

This multidisciplinary program offers students the following three streams:
1) Vaccinology & Immunotherapeutics: Societal Issues. The research in this area will involve the complex social, health care, legal and ethical issues associated with vaccination and other immunotherapeutics. Students in this program will receive an M.A. or Ph.D.
2) Vaccinology & Immunotherapeutics: Design & Production. The research in this area will focus on the design and production of vaccines and other immunotherapeutics. Students in the program will receive an M.Sc. or Ph.D.
3) Vaccinology & Immunotherapeutics: Scientific Bases. The major focus of research in this area would be the science that underlies vaccines and other immunotherapeutics. Students in the program will receive an M.Sc. or Ph.D.
Master of Arts (M.A.)
Admission Requirements
- four-year honours degree, or equivalent, from a recognized college or university in an academic discipline relevant to the proposed field of study
- cumulative weighted average of 70% in the last 60 credit units of the undergraduate degree
- TOEFL score of 550 or an equivalent measure of English proficiency for non-English speaking students
- demonstrated ability for independent thought, advanced study, and research

Master of Science (M.Sc.)

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) - Direct Entry
Admission Requirements
With the recommendation of the unit, direct entry Ph.D. admission is available to exceptionally strong students, who show great promise in terms of academic accomplishments and potential for research.
- A four-year honours bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in an academic discipline relevant to the proposed field of study.
- A cumulative weighted average of at least 80% in the last two years of undergraduate study (i.e. 60 credit units of course work).
- Demonstrated ability for independent thought, advanced study, and independent research.
- Evidence of English proficiency.
Degree Requirements
Students must maintain continuous registration in the 996 course.
- At least 9 credit units of course work at the graduate level must be successfully completed in the first year of the program.
- Within the first year of the program, successfully complete a Ph.D. Qualifying Examination that is at least as rigorous as the defence for a Master’s thesis in the program area.

- A minimum of 12 credit units at the 800-level

- Pass a comprehensive examination, after completing the required course work, and prior to focusing on the research and doctoral thesis.
- Write and successfully defend a thesis based on original investigation.
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) - Non-Direct Entry
