Curriculum Studies

The Masters of Education program in Curriculum Studies addresses the
relationship between practice and theory in curriculum research,
design, implementation, evaluation, and leadership. Those choosing to
pursue a Masters of Education in Curriculum Studies will be encouraged
to focus on aspects of praxis leading to expertise and leadership in
that aspect. Students may also choose to pursue the Educational Technology and Design area of focus. Please consult the Department of Curriculum Studies for more information.
Master of Education (M.Ed.)
The course-based M.Ed. is intended to be a terminal degree and may not prepare students for further studies in this area.
Admission Requirements- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)
- one year’s school teaching experience
Degree Requirements- GSR 960.0
- GSR 961.0 if research involves human subjects
- GSR 962.0 if research involves animal subjects
- thesis-based: 21 credit units, including ECUR 994 (Students must maintain continuous registration in the 994 course.)
- project-based: 24 credit units, including ECUR 992.0 (Students must maintain continuous registration in the 992 course.)
- course-based: 30 credit units, including ECUR 991.3
- core courses include:
- ECUR 990.0
- ECUR 991.3
- ECUR 992.0
- ECUR 994
- ECUR 996 as appropriate
- no residency requirement
