Card Access Troubleshooting

If you are having problems accessing U of S buildings/areas with your proximity card/fob, please review the following trouble shooting steps before sending a report. We cannot attempt to fix any access issues until these steps have been completed.

Step 1:  Ensure you have removed your access card or fob from your wallet as other cards such as banking and credit cards may interfere with the communication between your access card and the proximity reader.

Step 2:  Check with your supervisor to ensure you have been granted permission for the area you are trying to access. If you know you have permission to access the space in question, proceed to step 3.

Step 3: if possible compare your card with a co-worker with the same access permission as you, and has used their card successfully to access the space in question. With your coworker, check the card reader using both your card and theirs. This will help determine if the problem is with your card or with the reader itself; you will need this information to complete the form in your profile.

Step 4: Identify your card/fob number.

If you cannot see your card or fob number, please e-mail iam.support@usask.ca.  You will need to include your NSID in your e-mail.
