Biomedical Research Ethics Board
To accommodate regulatory requirements and to meet the needs of researchers, the Biomedical Research Ethics Board (Bio-REB) will hold two full-board meetings per month from September to June, one meeting per month in July and August. The meetings will be held on the first and third Monday of every month. If the meeting date falls on a statutory or other holiday, the meeting date will be moved to the following *Wednesday or Friday**.
Protocol submissions must be submitted by 4:30 pm on the submission date. Late applications will be held over to the next meeting date. There is a maximum of 8 protocols per meeting with some flexibility. Protocols will be numbered as the Ethics Office receives them. The protocols will be assigned to one or the other meeting that month according to the Board membership expertise for due diligence in the review of the protocol. Any submissions over the allotted limit will be held over to the next meeting and numbered accordingly.
Amendments, revisions and updated annual approval requests that require full board approval must be submitted as per the submission date schedule to be included on the agenda of the scheduled meeting.
There are no submission deadlines for minimal risk protocols. Minimal risk applications will be delegated to reviewers as they are submitted to the Ethics Office.
