Plant sciences researcher Rachel Buhler and brother Chris with Floating Gardens Ltd. are the winners of the $50,000 - 2007 BioVenture Business Plan Competition.  Their enterprise is based on “aquaponics”, a system that combines fish farming and hydroponic greenhouse techniques.

At Research Services Day,  August 30, 2007, Doug Gill, Managing Director of the Industry Liaison Office, spoke to professors, researchers & grad students regarding issues they need to consider in preparing to do their research, in thinking about commercializing their results and how ILO can assist them.

Dr. John Gordon and Dr. Fang Li are the 2007 winners of Saskatoon's Award of Innovation

University of Saskatchewan health researcher John Gordon has been awarded $242,000 from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) to help bring closer to market a new anti-inflammatory drug that could ease the suffering of people with arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and cystic fibrosis, as well as reduce damage caused by heart attacks and strokes.

Four U of S Researchers Honoured for Food, Fuel, and Medical Inventions

The Innovation Challenge Award by NSERC and the Canadian Science and Technology Growth Fund (CSTGF) has been established to encourage students doing graduate studies in the natural sciences, engineering or computer sciences to take a new look at their thesis work and identify the potential commercial application(s) of their research results. 

Four federal organizations are collaborating in an information session and networking opportunity on their private and public research support programs. This workshop will give companies and researchers an opportunity to learn more about funding and tax credit programs that are designed to assist private-public research partnerships and supporting technology transfer.
