Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI)

National Platforms Fund (NPF)

The Fund is being established to fund High Performance Computing infrastructure, and may prove to be the best vehicle to fund other types of generic research infrastructure, resources, services, and facilities that serve the needs of many research subjects and disciplines, and that require periodic reinvestments because of the nature of the technologies.

Current Status

High Performance Computing – CFI issued a call for a single national proposal with a deadline of June 30, 2006. The successful proposal unites the seven HPC Consortia in Canada: ACEnet, CLUMEQ, RQCHP, HPCVL, SciNet, SHARCNET, and WestGrid. The U of S is a partner in WestGrid II (U of Alberta lead).

Knowledge Management Resources for Social and Human Sciences – The U of S is a partner on two initiatives awarded by CFI: Synergies (U of Montreal lead), and Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) (U of Ottawa lead).
