Welch Award in Chemistry

Description:The Robert A. Welch Award in Chemistry is intended to foster and encourage basic chemical research contributions for the benefit of mankind as set forth in the will of Robert Alonzo Welch, founder of The Welch Foundation. Welch was interested in chemistry and in its service to both the betterment and the understanding of human life.

Eligibility:Any person who has made important chemical-research contributions which have had a significant, positive influence on mankind can be considered for this award. The award is intended to recognize contributions that have not previously been rewarded in a similar manner.
Value:$300,000. (Awardee must attend the presentation.)
Application Procedures:Nominations are solicited from selected scientific organizations and individuals, but may also be submitted by other appropriate organizations and individuals. Self-nomination is not permitted. Details on nominations are available on website.
