Lasker Medical Research Awards

Description:In creating the Lasker Awards for Basic and Clinical Medical Research and Public Service, Albert and Mary Woodard Lasker sought to raise public awareness of the value of biomedical research to a healthy society. The Lasker Awards focus attention on the community of remarkable basic and clinical scientists whose work has been seminal to understanding disease and the human being's capacity to overcome it. Since 1962, 71 Lasker Award recipients have gone on to win a Nobel Prize, most within two years of receiving the Lasker Award.

Eligibility:Lasker Awards are given each year in Basic Medical Research and Clinical Medical Research. There are also Lasker Awards for Lifetime Achievement and Public Service.
Value:$US100,000 honorarium plus citation and statuette.
