At the University of Saskatchewan, the awards facilitator works to encourage an environment where acknowledgement of outstanding faculty work is recognized as a valuable and critical component of the success of our university community. The awards facilitator provides direct support for the nomination of exceptional faculty for awards and prizes that recognize scholarship, teaching and outreach contributions nationally and internationally.

The awards facilitator is here to help manage the nomination process including setting internal deadlines, liaising with award granting agencies as well as ensuring that all nomination requirements are met and that nomination packages are submitted on time. The awards facilitator can also assist colleges and departments in developing long-term plans for future awards nominations.

The role of the awards facilitator is to:

• Work with senior administrators and faculty to identify candidates for external awards and create long-term plans for major national and international awards
• Circulate information about awards and prizes for which faculty members may be eligible
• Maintain and provide comprehensive information about specific awards to prospective nominators and nominees
• Assist in the planning and development of the nomination, including devising a tactical approach and setting internal deadlines
• Help the university celebrate award recipients
