Inserting an Image
You may insert images internally (from within the Cascade folder structure) or externally (from a hard drive, network drive or website).
Internal Images
To insert images already in Cascade, place your mouse cursor in the area desired for the image.
- Click the Insert Image button in the WYSIWYG editor.

- In the pop up window, click on the File icon to open a new window that will allow you to find your image.

- Browse through the Cascade folder structure to find you image. You can expand the folder structure by clicking the folder icon, the “+”
or the folder name. You can also search using the Search pane or Search
box. The History pane will bring up a list of recently visited files (See Short Cut: File Linking).

- Select your image.

- Click the Confirm button.

- Give the image alternate text (for if the image doesn’t show). This is a required field. Please Note: If you adjust the Width/Height values the image will become distorted. If you need to modify your image, see the editing images section.
- Click the Insert button for the image to be placed in the WYSIWYG editor.

- Click the Submit button to save your changes to the page.
External Images
To insert an image that is located on your computer or a network drive (outside of Cascade), you must first upload the image to a folder within Cascade. To upload an image file, you must select New | Image from the Menu bar.

After the New File window opens, there are four steps involved in uploading an external image.
- On the Content pane click browse to search for your image file on your hard drive or network drive.

- After you have selected your image file, you will see it appear in the Edit Image section.

- A System Name is required as well as a Parent Folder. By default, it uses the same name as the file had while on your computer. You may change the parent folder by clicking the folder icon and selecting a sub folder using the folder chooser.
- Optional: On the Metadata pane, you can insert the applicable keywords and other information that may make finding this image easier.
- Click the Submit button.

Once the image has been uploaded into Cascade, follow the instructions for inserting an internal image described above.
You may also insert an external image by entering the complete URL for that image.
Please Note: Using external images from websites is not recommended because Cascade is not able to automatically update the URL if the webpage is modified (i.e. images moved, pages edited, etc.) and can result in a broken link. If an internal image is moved within Cascade, the link will automatically be updated (after republishing); external links (URLs) must be updated manually.
- Click the Insert Image button in the WYSIWYG editor.
- In the pop up window, click on the External tab.
- Enter URL in the Image text box.

- Enter Alternate Text and any other necessary information. Please note that if you adjust the Width/Height values the image will become distorted.
- Click the Insert button.
- Click the Submit button to save your changes to the page.
