Uploading New Files into the WCMS

You will likely need to include files such as PDFs in your site. The File wizard allows you to upload a file such as a PDF, Word document or image into Cascade from your computer.

To upload a file:

  1. From the Menu bar, click New | File.

    The Create New File area will open.
  2. Upload your file by clicking the Browse button and searching for your file.

  3. Find your file and click the Open button. The File Upload field is populated with the file path for your file. Please Note: You are not required to provide a system name; by default it uses the existing file name. If you upload an image file, you will see your image appear in the image editor above the file upload area.

  4. You can save your file in a sub folder. Click on the folder icon to select a sub folder.

  5. Select the appropriate sub folder. You can use the “+” beside the folder to expand the folder tree. The folder listed as the Current Selection will change when you select a different folder. You can also search using the Search pane or Search box. The History pane will bring up a list of recently visited folders.
  6. Click the Confirm button.

    The selected folder is now listed as the Parent Folder.
  7. Optional: Click the Metadata pane to add metadata for your new file.

    Please Note: Leave the Display Name blank unless you want the file to be listed in the left navigation of the website.
  8. Click the Submit button.

    You will receive a message “Asset created successfully.” Your file can be found in the designated folder.
  9. After you have uploaded your file, you will need to publish it.

Once the file has been uploaded into Cascade, you can create an internal link to the file using a WYSIWYG editor or by using a file chooser on a structured content page.
