Let's Talk About Water: Last Call at the Oasis film screening and guest panel

Let’s Talk About Water (LTAW) is a unique, student-organized program combining the power of film and the science of water to inform and engage students, faculty and the general public in active discussion about water issues and solutions. 

Date: Thursday, April 18
Time: 5:30 pm (reception); movie starts at 6:30 pm sharp
Location: The Roxy Theatre, 320 20th Street West, Saskatoon

5:30 pm - Networking Event 
The evening will start off with a networking reception. Food and drinks will be provided. This is a must-attend event for those interested in local or global water issues, as members of Saskatoon's various water sectors will be present, including academia, industry, government and environmental groups. 

6:30 pm - Film Screening: Last Call at the Oasis (105 minutes)
Last Call at the Oasis presents a powerful argument for why the global water crisis will be the central issue facing our world this century. Illuminating the vital role water plays in our lives, exposing the defects in the current system and depicting communities already struggling with its ill-effects, the film features activist Erin Brockovich and such distinguished experts as Peter Gleick, Alex Prud'homme, Jay Famiglietti and Robert Glennon.

Following the film there will be a guest panel and audience discussion featuring the following Panelists: Jay Famiglietti (UC Irvine), Brian Ayres (O'Kane Consultants), Wayne Dybvig (Saskatchewan Water Security Agency), Rick Hooper (CUAHSI), Howard Wheater and Jeff McDonnell (Global Institute for Water Security.)

This a free event for anyone interested in attending; however, we do ask that you RSVP to water.security@usask.ca


This event is funded by SENS, the SENS Students’ Association (SENSSA), GIWS, the GIWS Student Outreach Committee and the Toxicology Graduate Student Association. Funds were matched by the coordinating agency, the Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science, Inc. (CUAHSI).
