Awards and Financial Aid is responsible for:
- selecting recipients for university, provincial, and national award competitions
- developing terms of reference for student awards
- creating policies, procedures, and processes for the administration of undergraduate awards
- monitoring the internal compliance of university policies, procedures, and processes for payout of awards
- promoting award opportunities to U of S prospective and current students, their parents, and high school counsellors
- acting as a resource for college and department award administrators and committees
- providing expertise and knowledge with respect to government and emergency loan processes and procedures
- acting as liaisons with the government and students to help resolve issues relating to reassessments, appeals, and exceptional circumstances
- arranging short-term, interest-free emergency loans for eligible students who are experiencing temporary unexpected financial difficulties and who do not have access to other sources of funding
