The Registrar provides support and consultation services to students, colleges and administrative units related to the academic processes of the University.
Registrarial Services coordinates a wide variety of services supporting the academic careers of students at the University of Saskatchewan. These include overseeing the University's course offerings and registration processes; developing the final examination timetable and managing deferred and supplementary examinations; recording grades and producing transcripts; producing the online Calendar; and organizing the Spring and Fall Convocation ceremonies as well as the Certificate Graduation ceremony.
Student Financial Assistance and Awards is responsible for developing terms of reference for student awards, scholarships and developing policies, procedures and processes for the administration of these awards, selecting recipients for University, provincial and national award competitions, promoting award opportunities to University of Saskatchewan prospective and current students, their parents and guidance counselors, and acting as a resource for college and department award committees.
The office also provides expertise and knowledge with respect to government and emergency loan processes and procedures. Staff liaises with the government and students to help resolve issues relating to reassessments, appeals, and exceptional circumstances. With Student Central they also arrange short-term, interest-free emergency loans for eligible students who are experiencing temporary unexpected financial difficulties and who do not have access to other sources of funding.
The Student Information Systems (SIS) unit maintains and evolves the University’s student information systems, which are cornerstones of the University’s long-term commitment to enhance the student experience.
SIS supports the Student & Enrolment Services Division and the campus community in the collection, storage, and retrieval of student data. The unit is a partner in providing academic and administrative staff with distributed access to up-to-date information about students – information that is used to ensure student success and in academic and institutional planning. SIS also collaborates with other administrative and technology professionals to deliver real-time, 24-hour, web-based services directly to students, including admissions, registration, grades and transcripts and fee payment. In addition, SIS provides business analysis services to help units make their processes more efficient and consistent with others across campus.
