General Information
The Gallery
is operated by the Department of Art and Art History at the University
of Saskatchewan. It is located in the northeast section of the Murray
Building. The Gallery receives operations funding
from the U of S with additional financial assistance from the Museum
Gallery Grant Program administered by the Museums Association of Saskatchewan
(Saskatchewan Lotteries). The Gallery is open to the public on a year
round basis and offers a diverse temporary exhibition program. In addition,
the Gallery manages a permanent collection of art works donated from
graduating exhibitions.
Exhibition Programs
The Gallery
presents a wide range of student exhibitions including graduating shows
(B.F.A. and M.F.A.) and group projects organized through studio and
art history courses. The Gallery's ShadowSpace program supports
opportunities for informal individual and group exhibitions and performance
by undergraduate and graduate student participants. Other Department
based programming includes biannual faculty shows and exhibitions of
works held in the Gordon Snelgrove Gallery Collection. Exhibitions drawn
from the wider community include high school art shows, touring exhibitions,
curatorial projects,and collaborative projects with campus, city, and
provincial organizations.
Collections
The Gordon Snelgrove Gallery Collection consists
of student works donated from MFA graduating exhibitions and Distinguished
BFA graduating exhibitions. Documentation of selected recent aquisitions
can be accessed on this site.
Events
In addition to exhibition programming,
the Gallery offers a site for special events such as visiting artist presentations.
All events, exhibitions and receptions are open to the public.
