Welcome to the University of Saskatchewan, the School of Public Health and the City of Saskatoon.
Since joining the School of Public Health in 2006, my interactions with our students have left me impressed, enthused and enriched. Dr. Buckingham and I work very hard to serve our student body and we are acutely aware that every student the faculty and staff serves will leave the School to go on and serve the public. Our mission of improving health for all begins with our students and ends with the outstanding work performed in the field of public health by our graduates and alumni.
Welcome to the School of Public Health. The University of Saskatchewan is a truly remarkable place and our motto “Where Great Minds Meet” exemplifies the crucible of inter-disciplinarity that characterizes the School of Public Health. Our School of Public Health will prepare you for a career in one of many areas including epidemiology, health promotion, health care management and policy, environmental health and biostatistics. You will find our School and its programs to be challenging, rewarding and an experience you will value for the rest of your life.
We are very excited about our School which began with an MPH program in the fall of 2006. In the intervening time, we have grown from 6 students to over 200. We have expanded our program offerings, are currently pursuing CEPH accreditation and have put together an effective team of administrators, faculty and staff to offer you the best educational experience possible. Dr. Buckingham is a visionary leader and under his guidance, the future of the School is bright.

On behalf of the faculty and staff, I want to extend a warm welcome to all new and returning students. I am delighted that you have decided to join or return to our university community. I congratulate you on your selection as a student in our program. Your selection is testimony to your academic achievements and your potential as professional public health providers. We are glad that you have accepted our offer of admission and we are confident you will enjoy your stay in Saskatoon and the University of Saskatchewan. I hope you will have a rewarding and successful academic year.
