Background:  Abayomi plan to proceed on his career with related nongovernmental organizations, and subsequently participate in government, where he would work with multidisciplinary teams to advocate for and develop policies which are cost-effective, accessible, and able to improve his country`s health indices such as the under-5 mortality rate, which at 191/1000 live births, remains one of the highest in the world.

Background: Carl decided to pursue his studies in Public Health after working in the Vancouver Island Health Authority in both the Public Health office as well as radiology. His research on nosocomial infections and hand hygiene within the health authority has caused him to pursue health related research to large populations and successful create interventions to improve the health of communities and populations overall. His primary focus is on epidemiology and infectious disease control; however his past experiences of traveling abroad and working internationally also shifted his interest to policy and economics, especially in the global health field.
