College Life

A focal aspect of the College of Emmanuel and St. Chad experience is that of worshipping, learning, and participating in a community created by the interrelationship of faculty, staff, students, and their families. All are welcome to play a full part in the life of the College.

First and foremost, the College is a community of worship, rooted in a regular pattern of Eucharist and Daily Office. An emphasis on the life of prayer is strong in the tradition of both our founding Colleges, Emmanuel in Saskatoon, and St. Chad's in Regina. Regular chapel attendance, by students and faculty alike, is the expected norm. A variety of rites have their place in the Chapel, and the worship reflects the varying traditions within the mainstream of Canadian Anglican and Episcopal church life. Students preparing for ordination (and others who so desire) begin practicing leadership and preaching in worship from their first term of study. We expect all students to use and develop familiarity with both the Book of Common Prayer and the Book of Alternative Services, as well as become acquainted with worship norms of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, our full-communion partner.

Secondly, the College is a community of shared intellectual life and learning.

Thirdly, the College is a community of care for one another through regular meeting and social opportunities (formal and informal), for the wider world through periodic projects of outreach, and for our residence and wider community through monthly Community Dinners.
