Theology I at Kuriakos

Dates: March 3-8, 2013

Location: Camp Kuriakos, Sylvan Lake, AB

Instructor: Rev. Dr. Cam Harder

This course is about learning to see the modern world through Lutheran eyes; through a "theology of the cross" lens. We will examine some of the core "loci" around which Lutheran thought has formed (e.g. Christology—who is Jesus, what significance do his incarnation, life, death and resurrection have for us and our modern concerns? What are some of the key tensions, questions about him?).

We will also study humanity, the nature of God and sin, the role of God in creation (providence, freedom, ecology), and other important topics.

Discussion will include application of these cross-centered understandings to contemporary issues, without excluding other perspectives.

This course is a requirement of the MDiv, MTS, BTh and Diaconal Certificate programs so it can be applied to diaconal, pastoral or lay theology interests. It can be taken for audit as well as credit.
