Goals of the Curriculum
The Curriculum of St. Andrew’s College intends to provide theological education through a cohesive program with course based, self-directed and integrative components. It seeks to enable interaction in various communities for learning. As well, it focuses on integration of: Theory and Practice, Church and Society, Theological disciplines, Self and Vocation, and United Church of Canada identity and ecumenical cooperation.
St. Andrew’s goal of making theological education as widely accessible as possible is met through a variety of modes of course delivery:
- Intensive courses taught by faculty in 1-3 week blocks
- Intensive courses in various communities taught by local instructors
- Cluster group courses in various communities taught by local instructors over a semester
- Intramural courses in Saskatoon taught by faculty over a semester
- Split intensive courses with time between beginning and end weeks or weekends
- Computer mediated courses (internet, email, etc.)
St. Andrew’s respects individual adult students, their learning needs and styles, and their life circumstances. Each student, part-time or full-time, distance or intramural, works with a Faculty Advisor throughout their program to enable the best possible learning.
