I chose St. Andrew's because of the emphasis on the integration of our theological studies with practical ministry experience and community involvement.
St. Andrew's blessed my life with social struggles and deep faith.
St. Andrew's prepared me
for a lifetime of ministry
and congregational service.
I grew in confidence over time, due in large part to the support of teachers, family and friends and the tenacious presence of the Spirit.
I am grateful for what I have experienced and learned from
St. Andrew’s College including
a strong sense of community.
Lorne Calvert will continue to lead St. Andrew's College as principal for the next five years after agreeing to a renewal of his contract with the college until June 30, 2018.
“The unanimous vote of approval by the board is a not so quiet testament to our appreciation of Lorne’s work and witness to this College for the last four years,” said board chair Dawn Ballantine-Dickson.
“We believe that Lorne has brought the work of the college to the attention of many United Church congregations. On the national United Church level he has played a vocal part in meetings of deans and principals, as well as being a strong advocate of the Saskatoon Theological Union.
“As principal he cares about student recruitment and the quality of education they receive from this college that is proud to have both a United Church and Prairie context.”
Calvert has the support and respect of the faculty and staff and helps provide a nurturing and empowering work environment, Ballantine-Dickson said.
His fundraising work has brought to fulfillment efforts started before his arrival to purchase new boiler. Since then, in conjunction with the development committee, funds were acquired for the lift that allowed the building to be almost fully accessible.
The college also hosted a successful centennial celebration for students, residents and friends of the college in 2012.
“We have been blessed by Lorne's gift to the college of vision and vitality, and are grateful that he has agreed to extend his term with us until June 2018,” Ballantine-Dickson said.
