9:30am to 3:00pm: Help Desk/Student Computing - FREE Laptop Security Clinic (Campus Computer Store, Lower Place Riel).

     - Bring your laptop to be inspected by our on-campus professionals for any and all performance and security issues.  As an added incentive, enter your name to win prizes courtesy of the Campus Computer Store!

 

10:00am: GMCTE/Campus Bookstore - Be a Part of the Next Big Thing in Digital Education! (Room G3, Murray Library).

     - Join us to learn how McGraw-Hill and Blackboard(r) have teamed up to simplify the instructor and student digital learning experience! View an in-depth demonstration of deep integration of McGraw-Hill Connect(r) and Blackboard LearnTM, which allows you to manage your course content, assignments, assessments and grades all from within your institution's existing Blackboard environment. Other topics of discussion include course material ordering, ebooks, and text options for students. Registration is not required but would be appreciated.

1:30pm: Desktop Services - Mobile Security, Are Your Mobile Devices Secured? (Room 45, Edwards' School of Business).

     - Mobile Security – Are your mobile devices secured? With more and more models of smartphones and tablets coming out each day, the possibility of these devices losing personal or work data is an ever increasing threat. 

Some of the topics include:

• Using the security features available on the device (such as passwords), remote find, wipe, lock, etc.

• Using secure services.

• Discuss rooting/jailbreaking devices, and the risks that present themselves when this is done.

•  Android's openess: Security and malware threats that are available on that platform because of its extensive flexibility.

 

2:30pm: IBM - Delivering Organizational Value Through Cloud Computing (Room 241, Arts Building).

     - IBM's perspective on cloud computing is that it is a "new" consumption and delivery model for information systems, enabled by the internet.  This presentation will address the various characteristics associated with cloud computing and various models for leveraging this paradigm.
