In September 2008, toxicology PhD candidates Alexis Schafer and Brian Laird were granted the prestigious Garfield Weston Award for Northern Studies Research from the Canadian Northern Studies Trust Program of the Association of Canadian Universities for Northern Studies. The $40,000 award is given to candidates who, among others, demonstrate excellence in northern research. Congratulations to both of you!
