Qualifications & Requirements - 2013/14
- Registered U of S student taking one or more courses in 2013/14
- Strong academic performance with an overall average of 75% or above
- The desire to help other students learn
- Strong verbal and written communication and excellent interpersonal skills
- Able to commit to mandatory orientation session
- Able to commit to mandatory training during the last weekend in August (9:00 AM-4:00 PM)
- Able to reliably and fully commit to 5 or 10 hours a week to the program
- Able to commit to weekly meetings
- Willing to participate in formal session evaluations and to receive feedback on peer mentorship role
Assets (any of the following will be considered an asset)
- Leadership skills training
- Broad academic interests
- Confidence in public speaking
- Prior work involving student support
- Tutoring or teaching experience
- Community Service-Learning experience
- A second language
