What is PAL Serve?
PAL Serve is a one-day community service-learning (CSL) event offered to students in the University Learning Centre (ULC) PAL Program (see explanation of PAL below) and to University partners of the PAL Program. You can make a difference in our community (gain some experience for your resume) and learn about community service-learning, all while getting to know other Peer Mentors. The event takes place on Saturday, September 10th, 2011.
PAL Serve is an opportunity for PAL Peer Mentors to:
- work with, and learn from, the strengths of community partners while addressing community-identified needs
- bond with fellow PAL Peer Mentors, university and community partners
- build an understanding of CSL to share with students they mentor
Basic Schedule: short version - Saturday, September 10th, 2011
9:45 - on campus for a meet and greet - with morning snacks :)
late morning - head to our placements at community organizations (with bagged lunches provided)
4:30ish - Back on campus...Pizza & home time!

What is PAL?
PAL (Peer Assisted Learning) Peer Mentors is a University Learning Centre initiative created to provide a welcoming and safe collaborative learning environment where PAL peer mentors take a lead role in helping their fellow students learn. PAL Peer Mentors would in many areas: Learning Communities, Structured Study Sessions, Library Skills, Study Skills Programs, Writing Groups and Community Service-Learning.
