English 110.6: An introduction to the main kinds of literature. In addition to learning the tools of critical analysis, students will study and practice composition.
Geology 121.3: Exploration of the global and local-scale physical processes that have shaped our planet. Strong emphasis on interrelationships of geological processes and humans. Topics for discussion include volcanoes, earthquakes, pollution, and the origin and exploitation of energy, mineral and water resources.
Physics 115.3: Provides the first part of an introduction to physics. Emphasis is placed on mechanics, electric and magnetic fields, electri currents and circuits, and the physics of atoms and particles. The course concludes with a discussion of our current understanding of the history of the universe and a discussion of the frontiers of our current understanding of the physical world. Some applications of physics in technology and the health sciences are also discussed.
